Freights Bay Surf Break is located on the South Coast of Barbados,

Approximately 10-15mins away from the airport. Freights Bay Surf Spot is

Known for having great waves year round, which are perfect for

Beginner Surfers all the way up to more advanced surfers.

If you are coming from the Hastings, or Maxwell area then you

Just continue you along the coast road (Highway 7), at the

Roundabout you take the exit on the right and continue along

Oistins main road. When you reach the intersection after

Oistins, you will take the slight right at Thornberry Hill Road and

Continue along the road and then another right onto Enterprise

Drive. Turn left at the end of Enterprise drive and you will spot Freights Bay Surf Break and

Surfers on your right!

The swells at Freights bay are perfect for beginner to

Intermediate surfers. It is a sheltered bay with a long left break.

The winds tend to be off shore and there is very little current

Which makes it a great spot for local surf schools in Barbados to teach their

Students. Even tough Freights Bay Barbados is pretty good year round,

The peak surfing season at Freights is between November and

April.

The main event at Freights Bay is surfing. There is no beach or

Even beach facilities here. Surfers access the water by heading

Down some stairs onto a very small beach where they then

Paddle out to catch some waves. The area has been recently

Landscaped and there are a few benches, which makes it a

Great spot to sit and watch the surfers or even a sunset.

If you are looking to grab a quick snack in between surf session

then head towards Oistins where you can pick up some local

fast food from Chefette! Another great spot for lunch is Surfer’s

Cafe, after a tough lesson its a great spot to unwind with an ice

cold Banks!
